If you’re thinking of planning your big day at Victoria Warehouse, you’ll meet our Weddings and Special Events Coordinator Eve.
Special events deserve an extra special venue, and Eve can show you how our unique event spaces can be completely transformed to make your vision a reality. Having worked at Victoria Warehouse since 2021, Eve knows the venue inside out, and she has a passion for exceeding event expectations.
We spoke to Eve to find out more about what a typical day at Victoria Warehouse looks like for her.
Typically, how do you start the working day?
I have always been an early riser. I like to have some time to myself before my working day starts, so I try and get some exercise in, although sometimes I’ll simply use my extra time to have a nice coffee.
Once I’m in the office, I log onto my laptop and get the kettle on – I am usually the chief brew maker, so I have everyone’s order down to a ‘T’ (excuse the pun)!
What does your morning involve?
My morning tends to involve prioritising all the new enquiries from couples for their weddings. I usually then have appointments with couples, to show them our wonderful wedding space, The Bays, and discuss all their upcoming plans and ideas. I talk through how we can bring all ideas into reality!
What does your typical afternoon look like?
I usually use my afternoon to continue with any ongoing events or admin I have. This could be typing up the running order and final details of a wedding, redesigning our brochure, or planning our next wedding open event.
How do you unwind after work?
I tend to have quite varied evenings; some just involve dinner and TV (especially when Married at First Site is on), but sometimes I can be found at a pub quiz, cinema or comedy night!
Why did you want to work at Victoria Warehouse?
I immediately loved that the venue was unique, especially from a weddings point of view. I knew my creative personality would suit working alongside couples who want to get married in an unconventional venue that they can totally make their own.
What do you like most about your job?
It’s got to be the people! I get to meet such lovely people, who are so excited about planning their special day. Planning a wedding is often thought of as stressful, but I usually find that most couples are just buzzing about bringing their day together and making it personal to them – it’s an honour and pleasure to be part of their special day.
Aside from that, my colleagues are so awesome – many I consider friends. There are so many unique personalities at Victoria Warehouse, but somehow we all just work and we really bounce off each other.
What’s the most challenging thing about the job?
Adapting to last-minute changes! We always try and make it work, but changes affect all areas of the business, from catering to operations to accounts. Having less time to deal with these things can add to the pressure.
Best event you’ve ever worked on?
Bigger isn’t always better, but the biggest wedding I ever did was probably the most satisfying to see come together. We had over 400 guests in The Cotton Sheds, and the groom arrived on a horse! There was also a personalised dance floor, insane pink and purple florals, and money-shooting guns that shot out the couple’s own personalised currency.
