Manchester event planners TLC recently chose Victoria Warehouse as the venue for their client’s 21st birthday party.
The client: Taylor Lynn Corporation (TLC)
The event space: The Cellars and The Archives
The concept
135 guests attended this unforgettable birthday celebration, featuring a three-course meal, entertainment, Ru Paul’s Drag artists, and a club room for partying throughout the night. The party’s design combined the feel of a chic London club with a fine dining experience.
The brief
The creative brief was based on a private members club in London. A magnificent palette of floral décor was created for the dinner, with intelligent lighting used for the night club element.
The experience
Guests arrived from 6:30pm and were greeted by a drag hostess, as well as mini vodka shots with name tags to identify table places.
After being welcomed to the party, the fun began! Live music and spontaneous dancing wonderfully disrupted the dinner, after which the drag queens created a conga line to take guests into the nightclub. Entertainment and the unexpected were key themes of the event.
A magnificent bouquet of tumbling florals fell down the staircase at the entrance, with blooms installed to create a canopy suspended from the ceiling. The tables underneath were draped with fuchsia pink velvet cloths, with pink mirror table tops reflecting the flowers overhead. A long pink mirror bar also extended the width of the room, with bookends of floral displays and a menu of mouthwatering pink cocktails. The piece de resistance in the club room was the catwalk that had been built for the entertainers and guests, with the DJ built into the middle of the catwalk, which was surrounded by booth seating and gold mirrored bars.
A starter of seared scallops was served, followed by a filet of beef served with truffle potatoes, and finally ending with a cocktail tree of desserts served in martini glasses. In addition to this, chicken gyros kebabs and tater tots were served, street food style, at midnight.
The main entertainment for the evening was the incredible Swan Band, who are managed exclusively by TLC. Featuring five hours of uninterrupted performance, The Swan Band created a spectacular dinner ambience, ensuring artists and guests were dancing on the chairs, floor and tables! From here, guests entered the club, where a hand-picked DJ played until the end of the event, with intermittent performances from an ensemble of drag queens.
Why Victoria Warehouse?
Victoria Warehouse was chosen because it’s an incredible space and an incredibly versatile blank canvas. This allows for creativity in terms of design and production. The industrial backdrop has a unique urban design, full of character and texture. The venue’s variety of event spaces also enables you to zone areas for different aspects of an event.
The Verdict?
Guest feedback was sensational. The flexibility and willingness of the Victoria Warehouse team to help in any situation was highly valued.
One of the reasons Victoria Warehouse was top of the venue list is because it’s a blank space with no restrictions. You’re able to access the day prior, which is important when the event demands attention to detail with set building – it works for both the planner and the venue as it reflects in the end result. The in-house team are always on hand to support each supplier, from production to catering and more. TLC and Victoria Warehouse made the perfect combination!
“Victoria Warehouse combines a unique venue with a fabulous team who make planning an event there easy. I love the flexibility of the spaces, which offer the potential for both large-scale events and smaller occasions. It’s a pleasure to have held several events at the venue, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.” – Liz Taylor, CEO, Taylor Lynn Corporation
