We love hearing from couples months after their wedding with us, still in the afterglow of an epic day.
Emily and Nick got married here with us in February and were delighted to share the various details of their wedding, letting us know what made it so special. As a drama teacher (Emily) and travel consultant (Nick), these guys wanted their wedding to be bold, theatrical, and full of character.
They chose Victoria Warehouse as a venue that would allow them to step out of the ordinary, bringing character to their story and bringing their vision to life.
Date of wedding: 17th February 2024
Number of guests: 120 in the day, 170 in the evening.
The event space: The Bays
Why Victoria Warehouse?
We walked in and knew straight away this was the place for us. We’d be searching for something a little bit different, somewhere quirky and memorable. We wanted a venue on our doorstep, and it was important to choose a venue that meant we could break away from the traditional.
We loved Victoria Warehouse’s industrial and striking look, as well as the flexibility the team provided to accommodate the structure and set-up for our special day.
Did your wedding have a theme?
We were loosely inspired by 1920s Hollywood glam with a modern industrial twist. We both like dark, dramatic colours, so we incorporated lots of jewel tones such as burgundy, emerald, and teal, as well as art deco-style décor and lighting.
Keeping with a vintage approach (as well as being sustainable) all the table decor and vases were sourced from local charity shops, each bringing a certain charm to the room.
Talk us through your big day.
We got ready separately, I (Emily) got ready at home alongside my nine bridesmaids, and Gracie the dog. We had a really fun morning, before heading to our ceremony which was held at Victoria Warehouse, in The Bays.
After the formalities, we had a drinks reception in the bar area, photography around the venue, followed by our wedding meal. We’re party people, so wanted to break away from the traditional three-course sit-down meal. We decided on street-food style dining, making guests feel a bit more relaxed, and meaning we could get the party started as soon as possible.
The party element was always going to be our main focus. We had evening guests arriving from 6.30pm, and a live band, ‘The Avenues,’ created an absolutely amazing atmosphere. They had a female vocalist and sax player who got everyone up dancing to funk, disco, and pop—it was fantastic!
How was the venue dressed?
We loved the aesthetic of The Bays event space and combined this with our Gatsby-esque elements, in particular lots of dramatic lighting, Edison lighting down the aisle, an Edison hexagonal backdrop, and similar geometric lights over tables for the meal. We incorporated florals into the decor too, with flowers in vases for the table centres.
What food and drink did you choose and why?
We both love Middle Eastern and European cuisine and wanted to try incorporating these fresh flavours into our street food menu. We had a real mix of options including charred halloumi gyros, grilled chicken with handmade Greek pita, salad, mint, lemon tzatziki, and chicken shawarma flatbread wrap with shredded lettuce and tomatoes, plus Batata Harra (Leonese spiced roasted potatoes).

What was most important to you for your big day?
Aside from the ‘getting married bit’, we wanted to throw a real party and for everyone to have a good time – laughing, dancing and enjoying the moment. And that’s exactly how it was, we loved it!
How did the venue team help to make your day special?
Teesha, our event manager on the day, was amazing! She made us feel so at ease, ensuring everything went just as we’d planned. She was also just really lovely, knowing people’s names and making such an effort. Because of both Teesha and Eve, our wedding coordinator, everything felt so calm and organised. From start to finish, the team were great.
What impressed you most about Victoria Warehouse?
The look, feel and atmosphere. It’s dramatic – and hit our brief just perfectly.
A spectacular day from start to finish full of colours, laughter and dancing. We can’t imagine our wedding to be anywhere else than Victoria Warehouse!
